Das gl\u00e4ubige Individuum, so hei\u00dft es, steht einerseits in Beziehung zu einem \u00bbGanz Anderen\u00ab, zu einer \u00bbtranszendenten Macht\u00ab oder zu einer jenseitigen, vage gefassten personalen Instanz. Dieses Gegen\u00fcber ist ihm andererseits ungeheuer nahe, intim vertraut, ja, mit einer Wendung Augustins behauptet, n\u00e4her, als sich das Individuum selbst nahe zu kommen vermag. Eine innerste Gewissheit, Glaube genannt, bewahrt dieses Spannungsverh\u00e4ltnis.
